Executive Director –

Bellows Falls Downtown Development Alliance is a non-profit organization committed to promoting the vibrancy of Bellows Falls Downtown District businesses. The Executive Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong working and collaborative relationships with local businesses, municipal government, Great Falls Chamber of Commerce, the media, and the general public, with the aim of ensuring sustainability of Bellows Falls downtown district businesses, and advancing it’s economic development goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with municipal staff to develop goals aligned with Town’s economic development plan.
  • Establish a strategy to assess the business community’s most critical needs and concerns.
  • Support existing and new businesses that may want to do business in the Bellows Falls Downtown District
  • Formulate and implement marketing strategies, which can include hosting BFDDA events and cross-promoting other events in the community.
  • Collaborate with municipal staff on communications with area businesses.
  • Write grant proposals, applications, and contracts in collaboration with municipal staff.
  • Provide information and/or deliver presentations.
  • Manage the organization’s budget and regularly report finances using Quickbooks.
  • Serve as a liaison with State and Federal Agencies and report statistics to them.
  • Keep area businesses informed about State and municipal initiatives and proposals that may affect their business, and bring their feedback to municipal officials.
  • Help Publicize the Bellows Falls Farmer’s Market.
  • Attend quarterly Joint Board meeting to update Select Board and Trustees and BFDDA activities.
  • Prepare report for the annual Rockingham & Bellows Falls Village reports.
  • Attend and participate in the board meetings of the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce.
  • Work with BFDDA Organization, Design, Promotions and Economic Development committees.
  • Update BFDDA website and Facebook page along with BFDDA Promotions Committee.
  • Working with Board, prepare Annual Report including Workplans for each Committee and Budget.
  • Working with Board, conduct membership campaign in April & conduct annual meeting.

Qualifications:

  • Considerable knowledge of business development, community, and economic development.
  • Working knowledge of municipal zoning and infrastructure, and planning programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish relationships and successfully collaborate with public officials, municipal staff, area businesses, and local organizations.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures and constituencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Quickbooks.
  • Experience representing BFDDA on social media, such as email newsletters with Mailchimp, our WordPress Chamber Dashboard website, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Leadership, team building, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently toward objectives.
  • Experience developing and maintaining budgets.
  • Availability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Supervision Received:

This position is supervised and evaluated by BFDDA Board of Directors. The Executive Director will be responsible for reporting regularly to the Board about the daily operation, finances, and advancement of goals.

Compensation: This is a part-time position budgeted for 15 hours a week at $15 an hour.
