The Bellows Falls Downtown Development Alliance is devoted to the continuing revitalization of downtown Bellows Falls, the historic commercial center of the town of Rockingham. Founded in November 1999, the BFDDA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that works in collaboration with the Vermont Downtown Program, the Town of Rockingham, and the Village of Bellows Falls.

The BFDDA's formal mission is "to promote and support revitalization efforts and economic development in the Bellows Falls Downtown Development District, to coordinate with other community groups and Town and Village governing bodies in regard to ongoing development efforts, and to aid and assist other efforts to that end."

Local Area History Books Available Now!!

The Rockingham Historical Commission is pleased to announce a 2009 re-printing of two local history books from the early 20th century: The Old Rockingham Meeting House and First Church in Rockingham Vermont, by Lyman S. Hayes and William D. Hayes (first printing 1915); and Bellows Falls & Vicinity (Vermont and New Hampshire) Illustrated, compiled by P.H. Gobie and edited by L.S. Hayes (first printing 1908). Each book is available for a donation (suggested $15 and $20, respectively).

All who know and love Rockingham will enjoy stepping into the Town’s storied past through these books. They will make thoughtful gifts or meaningful additions to your personal library, and your donation directly supports the ongoing, local historic preservation programs of the Rockingham Historical Commission. Please give as much as you can, and remember: only 200 copies of each book are available! The 2009 re-printing of these books was supported by a grant from the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation.

For more information or to purchase one or both books, please call (802) 463-3456, ext. 123; email; or write to: CLG Commission, Town of Rockingham, PO Box 370, Bellows Falls, VT 05101. Checks (drawn on a local bank), money orders, and cash (not by mail) are accepted. The books can also be purchased at Rockingham Town Hall (7 Square, 3rd floor Development, Bellows Falls, VT) weekdays between 8:30am-4:30pm; as well as at Village Square Booksellers and other area bookstores, the Waypoint Center, and the Saxtons River Inn.
